Officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have confirmed that an infant from Jersey City had the measles, marking the state's first case in 2015.

The infant, who has since recovered, was a year old and unvaccinated—most doctors recommend vaccinating children when they are 12 to 15 months old. Residents in the building where the infant lived were informed that they may have been exposed, and are at risk of getting ill through today thanks to the disease's incubation period.

So far, officials are unable to link the infant's case to a measles outbreak that has affected 102 people in 14 states thus far, and is believed to have originated in Disneyland. Health officials tell us that there have been two cases of measles in New York City in 2015, though both are related to international travel and not connected to the outbreak.
