A man who was found stabbed in the torso on West 40th Street in Midtown last night has died at Bellevue Hospital.
Police say they received a 911 call at 9:34 p.m. about an unconscious male, 36, outside of 213 West 40th Street. EMS found stab wounds on the man and took him to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Daily News reports that it's believed the victim was homeless.
The man may have gotten into an argument with someone at the New Star Cafe, on 7th Avenue between 39th and 40th Streets; WABC 7 says, "Police said the argument led to the stabbing."
According to the NY Times, police had 40th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues closed off: "A subway entrance on the block was also closed as the police investigation continued. A security guard at The New York Times said officers had requested surveillance video from the organization, whose offices are down the street from the crime scene."
