Some more bad news for Uber: the Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) has temporarily shut down five of the six Uber bases in NYC because the company has refused to submit their drivers' electronic trip records.

You can see the decision below:

TLC Uber Final Decision

The TLC has requested that the company divulge data including "the date of trip, time of trip, pick up location, and license numbers." They also want Uber to pay a $200 fine for each of its NYC bases which have been suspended. Uber argues that sharing such things would violate its privacy rights, give up trade secrets, and divulge the personal info of drivers.

"This data has very real significance to policy, and also to the safety of the riding public," TLC spokesman Allan Fromberg said in a statement. According to the Post, other independent taxis bases operating in NYC, including Lyft, have already shared this data. Uber has vowed to continue operating by having drivers all work out of their last remaining base.

"Uber continues to operate legally in New York City, with tens of thousands of partner drivers and hundreds of thousands of riders relying on the Uber platform for economic opportunity and safe, reliable rides,” they said in a statement. "We are continuing a dialogue with the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission on these issues." A TLC spokesman countered to NY Business Journal, "There's no open dialogue of which I am aware."

Uber insists the suspension will not impact their service, please let us know what your experience is in the coming days.
