Police arrested a driver in the Bronx last night after he ran over two teens and fled the scene. According to investigators, Shawn Williams, 26, was headed north on Baychester Avenue when he hit the two youths as they crossed the road near Crawford Avenue. One of the teens, 16-year-old Dylon Ramirez, was knocked into the opposite lane of traffic and was struck by a second vehicle. Ramirez was pronounced DOA at Jacobi Hospital.
An unidentified 15-year-old girl was also run over; she's currently in critical condition. Police say both drivers fled the scene, but Williams, who was driving a Honda Accord, later returned, and was subsequently arrested. He's charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death and Reckless Driving. Police say they're still searching for the second driver.
