City restaurants have continued their trend of scoring good grades with the Department of Health. According to data obtained by the Post, there were only 32,392 violations recorded from January to November of this year, down 13% from the 36,840 from the same months in 2013. Whether that's due to reforms to the system or restaurants operating a cleaner business depends on who you ask.

Agency spokesperson Megan Montalvo says the figures are "entirely due to restaurants’ continued improvement in food-safety practices and sanitary conditions." The NYC Hospitality Alliance's Robert Bookman says there are "fewer summonses and a lot are being dismissed," a statement backed up by the numbers. The dismissal rate in the previously impenetrable appeals system has risen from 40 to 42% in the last year.
