Braving the cold temperatures last night, a million people crowded into Times Square to ring in 2015. Mayor Bill de Blasio and his family, First Lady Chirlane McCray and children Dante and Chiara, helped with the ball drop. De Blasio later Tweeted, "Happy new year, New York City! Looking forward to all we're going to accomplish together in 2015."
For all the jaded New Yorkers who look to avoid Times Square on New Year's Eve, there were plenty of people who were happy to be there. A couple from Scotland told NBC New York, "This is a world renowned thing... Best day of my life apart from the day we got married."
And a 15-year-old girl who was there with her sister and best friend—and got there at 10:30 a.m.—said, "This was on my bucket list. It's really crowded and cold but what a great experience."
We hope you have a marvelous New Year!
