Today's temperature peaked late this morning and we can expect a slow cooling through the afternoon as cold air arrives in gusty northwesterly blasts following yesterday's rain. Early evening temperatures should be in the mid 40s and we should bottom out in the mid-to-upper 30s tomorrow morning.

The wind should calm down as the day progresses tomorrow, but Saturday's high is only expected to reach the upper 40s in the city. Sunday should be a bit warmer with a high in the mid 50s under mostly sunny skies. High pressure over the southeastern U.S. will keep us warm for the first half of next week with daily highs running in the mid to upper 50s through Wednesday.

You might want to take advantage of the warm weather early in the week and go shopping for winter clothing because we are going to wake up to a different world on Thursday. A strong cold front on Wednesday night will be followed by fall's first foray of Arctic air. It looks like we'll be in for several days of highs in the low-to-mid 40s and lows near freezing starting next Thursday.
