An MTA bus driver was arrested today after allegedly stabbing another man in the arm in the Arverne section of the Rockaways. An NYPD spokesman characterized the stabbing as a "road rage" incident and said the bus driver, who has not yet been identified, had been in a prior dispute with the victim.

It's unclear what sparked today's altercation, which happened around 1:30 p.m. near the same intersection where an MTA bus was hit with stray bullets last night: Beach 67th Street and Beach Channel Drive. (It does not appear that the two incidents are related.) An MTA spokesperson says the bus was off-duty and the driver was on his way back to the depot at the time.

The unidentified victim, 28, was rushed to Jamaica Hospital and is expected to survive. Charges are pending against the bus driver. According to ABC 7, "The victim jumped out of his vehicle... and chased after the bus, which went around the corner. The victim confronted the bus driver in front of a restaurant and police say the driver stabbed the other man in the arm." NBC New York reports that "the other motorist had a previous dispute over a woman."
