Masked home invaders took advantage of Halloween by taking a Long Island family captive and robbing their home on Friday. A 34-year-old Farmingdale woman, who was with her 2-year-old son, was opening the door of her home for trick-or-treaters around 8:45 p.m. Friday when a trio of masked men, two of whom were carrying guns, burst into the house.

The invaders forced their way in, demanding that the woman and her 48-year-old husband sit down; when the husband refused, he was repeatedly pistol-whipped, receiving lacerations to the head. They tied up the couple's hands and feet with duct tape, and then let two other accomplices into the house to help rob it.

The woman was able to break out of the tape, grabbed her toddler, and ran next door to a neighbor's place to call police. "I looked out and I saw the wife and the kid and I opened the door for them," the 29-year-old neighbor, who declined to give her name, told the News. "The lady was very hysterical and said, 'Oh my God, someone came into the house and they’re beating up my husband.' "

The attackers fled the scene; it's unclear what they stole. Police describe the invaders as a man, 5'8" tall, 200 pounds with a white mask and dark clothes; a man, 5'9" tall, 180 pounds with a werewolf mask, black clothes and armed with a handgun; a woman, 5'8" tall with a thin build, afro hair and wearing goggles; a man, 5'9" tall, 200 pounds, armed with a handgun; and a man wearing a wool hat and a mask.
