A man was found hanging at a subway station in Brooklyn early this morning.
According to cops, the 22-year-old man was found at the Avenue U station in Gravesend around 3:45 a.m. on Saturday. They believe he committed suicide by hanging near a staircase using "a heavy duty rope."
The man, whose name has not been released, was found on the Manhattan-bound side of the N train platform. He was declared DOA at the scene. Police add that no criminality is suspected.
This is the second time this week that a person was found dead-by-hanging in public: on Wednesday, a man in his 30s was found hanging by a belt around his neck on the pedestrian walkway spanning the Queens Midtown Expressway.
If someone you know exhibits warning signs of suicide: do not leave the person alone; remove any firearms, alcohol, drugs or sharp objects that could be used in a suicide attempt; and call the U.S. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) or take the person to an emergency room or seek help from a medical or mental health professional.
