Three men have been arrested for chasing and shooting a 22-year-old man in Bushwick in what police are calling an anti-gay attack. Police say the victim, whose name hasn't been released, was walking with a friend near Putnam Avenue and Broadway around 7 a.m. on Saturday when they were followed and attacked by three suspects.

According to the News, the victim was "dressed as a woman" and the suspects, Cody Sigue, 22, Matthew Smith, 21, and Tavon Johnson, 17, were shouting homophobic slurs. They allegedly chased them down the street, until Smith shot the victim in the buttocks. The man was taken to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and released.

All three men have been arrested. Smith has been charged with assault in the first degree, and Johnson and Sigue have been charged with menacing and third-degree hate crime. The News adds that Smith has "an extensive arrest history," with 14 prior arrests including robbery, burglary, assault and conspiracy.
