The New Jersey high school teacher who was accused of sexually assaulting three 15-year-old male students this week is now being charged with assaulting two more students. The two additional alleged victims are also 15-year-old males.
Nicole Dufault, 34, pleaded not guilty yesterday to counts of aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, after three underage students at Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ accused her of sexually assaulting them. Authorities claimed that Dufault, who has taught language arts at the school for nine years, engaged in "oral sex and vaginal intercourse with the students on school property and in her car on multiple occasions."
Two more students have since come forward to accuse Dufault of sexual assault. Her attorney told NJ.com that he had not heard of any additional allegations. "I haven’t seen any evidence substantiating that, and there was no indication…that there would be additional charges filed," he said yesterday. "At this point, I am concerned about potential copycat complaints and opportunists."
Dufault has two children who have been taken from her custody, and she is being held on $500,000 bail; some Columbia High School students have started a #FreeMsDufault hashtag on Twitter in support.
