The Edge condo towers in Williamsburg were among the first to rise up along the waterfront, and now Brownstoner is reporting that they aren't done developing that site just yet. According to the website, Douglaston Development has "filed a new building application Monday for a third Williamsburg Edge condo tower, which will rise to 40 stories. The building at 2 North 6th Place will have 554 units, including 10 duplexes."

The tower will include both residential and commercial space, "160 parking spaces that have been 'dry floodproofed,' bike storage, a business center, children’s play room, an outdoor terrace, storage rooms and a gym. And there will be a rooftop terrace with a BBQ, pool and hot tub, and a lounge/party room."

While the Edge was one of the first in the luxury condo movement in the neighborhood, their design may have suffered for it—it's one of the least aesthetically appealing developments in the area (no reclaimed wooden beams?), particularly the exterior. There also seemed to be some shoddy construction—Free Williamsburg, calling the condo complex "a piece of garbage," reported last year that metal was dangling off one of the Edge buildings, which shut down the Brooklyn Flea at the time.

Can't beat those views though... unless you're in the short tower—according to Brownstoner the new tower will be build IN FRONT OF that one. [via Curbed]

UPDATE: Dennis Lin, representing Edge residents, tells us, "There is NO EVIDENCE that this new tower is an Edge building. It is a completely independent development even though it's the same builders."
