The police are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect in an attempted rape that happened yesterday in Brooklyn.

According to the NYPD, at 12:30 a.m. on August 29th, a 20-year-old woman was walking along Saint Mark's Avenue approaching Underhill Avenue. A male "approached her from behind, grabbed her by the waist and covered her mouth with his hand," police say. Then he allegedly threw her to the ground and tried to remove her clothing. The victim managed to resist and he eventually fled.

The suspect is described as approximately 19 years-old, 5'6", black hair and weighing approximately 160 pounds

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
