San Francisco-based startup Instacart launched here in late spring, offering New Yorkers the option to get deliveries from Whole Foods, Costco and other local grocers delivered to their doors within the hour. At their launch, Manhattan and Brooklyn were the only boroughs served (shocker), but now the company has expanded its operations to include several parts of Queens. Long Island City, Astoria, Sunnyside, and Woodside can utilize the company's delivery services beginning today, though their selection of stores is limited to Costco and Key Foods for the moment. Get on Queens, Whole Foods!
In addition to Key Foods, Food Emporium and stores mentioned above, customers in Manhattan can now request deliveries from Fairway Market as well; sorry Brooklyn and Queens, but the company says the service is coming to you soon! (Extra sorry Staten Island and the Bronx!) Customers can get the grocer's superlative cheese selection and other goodies delivered right to their doorsteps.
With the expanded service also comes a hefty price cut to the company's delivery fees. A one hour delivery for an order over $35 is now just $5.99, down from a whopping $14.99 when the service first launched. You're now just the price of a pint of Haagen Daz away from never having to leave your apartment for groceries.
