A 14-year-old boy was stabbed to death outside a Bronx school as he left the building around 3 p.m. today. According to the NYPD, 14-year-old Timothy Crump was stabbed multiple times, and rushed to Bronx Lebanon Hospital where he was pronounced DOA. An unidentified 14-year-old boy has been taken into custody in connection with the murder.

Both boys were reportedly students at Intermediate School 117 (Joseph H. Wade) in the Mount Hope neighborhood of the Bronx, and one police source tells the Times that the boy currently in custody "may have previously been robbed by the boy who was stabbed."

Witnesses say the two boys began fighting as a steady stream of students exited the school today. “I just seen two people, they were just fighting," one student tells CBS 2. "There was two people fighting and one just pulled out a knife and stabbed him…he just dropped to the floor and started bleeding. And then the security guard and all of them just came and tried to help him and they brought the boy with the knife into the school."

Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña said in a statement, "We are devastated to lose one of our children like this. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and school community and we will dispatch grief counselors to the school tomorrow to support our students, teachers and school staff in every way we can. The Department will offer any assistance it can as the police investigate."
