Another spate of violence erupted around the city over the weekend, with shots fired in nine separate instances around Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan. At least 13 people were shot; fortunately, no one died.

The first in the series of bullets was unleashed on a Harlem basketball court around 5 p.m. on Saturday, leaving a 16-year-old shot in the leg. Later, at a barbecue in Crown Heights, a man opened fire in St. John's Park, striking four.

Two teenagers were also shot in East New York around 11 p.m. during a memorial walk for Tyquan Jamison, a teenager who was shot and killed in 2010 only blocks away. A 19-year-old was also stabbed during the walk. “It’s obscene and really ridiculous,” neighborhood resident Natasha Lewis told the Post. “I’m totally shocked...[but] you can’t just back down and say we’re not going to have these marches."

Also in East New York, an 18-year-old was shot around 1:40 a.m., and two plainclothes officers fired at an armed 16-year-old who refused to drop his weapon. They missed both times. Nearby, a 23-year-old man was shot five times at 2 a.m. He was rushed to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition.

While there were no fatalities resulting from gunfire this weekend, a 6-year-old boy was stabbed to death in an East New York elevator last night. His 9-year-old friend was also stabbed and remains in critical condition.
