The NYPD has confirmed they have a suspect in custody whom they believe is linked to the January murder of Williamsburg landlord Menachem Stark.

Though cops currently have no further details regarding the arrest, JP Updates reports the primary suspect is a Brooklyn contractor who had ties to some of Stark's allegedly shady business dealings, and may have been owed money by the developer.

Stark, who was kidnapped outside his South Williamsburg office on the night of January 2nd, his burned corpse subsequently found in a Long Island dumpster, allegedly owed millions of dollars to creditors at the time of his death.

Investigators have suspected the kidnapping may have been a botched scare tactic ordered in retaliation by one of the many creditors to whom he owed money.

City Council Member David Greenfield released the following statement today regarding the arrest:

The callous murder of Menachem Stark shocked not just the Jewish community, but all people of good conscience. Certainly, his family can have no peace until every person responsible for this depraved crime is brought to justice," said Councilman David Greenfield. "Today's actions by the NYPD are a testament to their commitment to solving this case. I applaud the NYPD and Mayor Bill de Blasio for putting every resource into solving this heinous murder. We will now have to work hard to make sure that these murderers never see the light of day again.
