Commuters through Grand Central Terminal have reason to smile now that Cafe Grumpy will be taking up residence inside the transit hub. The Greenpoint-based roaster and cafe are set to open at some point in May inside GCT's Lexington Passage, taking over the spot currently occupied by a Starbucks. If only this chain-ousting were a trend.
The chainlet joins Joe Coffee and Irving Farm Coffee Roasters as the hub's independent coffee offerings; GCT had previously stated it would increase locally-owned businesses within its walls. Insert obligatory Lena Dunham thank you here. [ThirstyNYC via GrubStreet]
