If yesterday's disarmingly pleasant high of 66 degrees made you happy, you're going to be ecstatic about tomorrow's high of 25! The last gasps of a dying winter are going to cycle through all four seasons in the next 24 hours as a low pressure system moves out of the Ohio Valley and intensifies as it nears the city.

First up is spring. A southeasterly breeze behind the storm's warm front will heat us up to the upper 50s this afternoon. Rain is almost certain to follow by early evening. There is a slight chance that summer, in the form of a thunderstorm, might pay a visit later in the evening. After the cold front passes around midnight we will have a brief autumn before plunging into deep winter. The front will pull cold air down from the Canadian Rockies and the temperature is going to drop from the upper 40s at midnight to the mid 20s at daybreak.

The precipitation should stop once the cold front passes, but a dusting of snow could fall on the city overnight. The cold air will be accompanied by winds howling at a steady 20-25 mph with gusts to 40 mph on Thursday, pushing the daytime wind chills into the single digits. The actual temperature will bottom out in the upper teens on Friday morning.

Let's end on a warmer note. The cold air won't last too long, with the temperature rebounding to the near normal lower 40s on Friday. Saturday will start out great with a high at least in the lower 50s and possibly higher, under a mix of sun and clouds. It looks like another cold front will bring cooler weather for St. Patrick's Day but that should be child's play once we've been through tomorrow's freezer blast.
