A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a motorist in Brooklyn yesterday afternoon. One resident described the crash as "horrible".

According to the NYPD, police responded to a 911 call about a collision at Manhattan Avenue and Green Street in Greenpoint at 4:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found motorcycle rider Jorge Rios, 47, unconscious and unresponsive. Rios was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation found that Rios, a Queens resident, had been operating his 2001 Suzuki motorcycle northbound on Manhattan Avenue when it hit the passenger side of a 2007 Lexus sedan, which was driven by a 71-year-old man. According to the Daily News, the Lexus driver stayed at the scene and "is not expected to face criminal charges."

Last August, an 18-year-old motorcyclist died on Manhattan Avenue at Eagle Street, after hitting a car, two blocks away from yesterday's crash.

Update: One of Rios' coworkers at Java Car Service told DNAinfo that Rios had borrowed a friend's bike. Edward Peralta said, "He was here with me before the incident happened. He met up with some friends and took a little break to see how his friend’s bike feels." A few minutes later, he saw people running to the intersection, "I seen the motorcycle on the floor. He was on the corner. He wasn’t moving. There was a lot of blood. He didn't have a helmet."
