What was a routine followup to a 311 call about a noisy apartment in Queens turned into the cops discovering nearly 2000 glassines of heroin.
At 11:05 p.m. on Friday, March 7th, cops checked up on an apartment at 67-11 161st Street in Flushing and heard a loud radio. When they knocked, tenant Frank Giardina appeared, police say, "holding a marijuana pipe."
Police were only going to give him a summons, but Giardina had invited them in while he got his identification—and while inside, cops discovered five pounds of what looked like heroin in the kitchen.
Giardina was arrested, and then cops got a search warrant and found 1948 glassines of heroin, plus packing materials and packing equipment. Apparently the street value is about $150,000; a source told the Post, "The guy let responding officers in like he had nothing to hide. Maybe he was too stoned to remember what was in his apartment."

Giardina was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance in an amount greater than 8 ounces, criminal possession of a controlled substance of methamphetamine, and intent to sell a criminal possession of a controlled substance. Oh, and criminal possession of marijuana.
