It's been more than a month since the ground has been bereft of snow. Today is the 35th consecutive day with at least an inch of snow being measured in Central Park. For nine of those days the snow was at least a foot deep. While that is certainly a long spell it is nowhere near the record of 56 straight days set back in 1948.

A little bit more snow will be added to that pile this morning as a strong upper-level disturbance passes overhead. The good news is that disturbance doesn't have much moisture to work with, so only an inch or snow is expected by early afternoon. After the snow ends, a cold front will sweep through the area and it means business. Look for gusty winds this evening and a low in the mid teens in the city tomorrow morning, with single digit temperatures possible inland.

We might see a few light flurries tomorrow morning but we'll definitely have another cold front passage in the afternoon. So, get ready for another round of blustery weather late Thursday and really chilly temperatures on Friday morning when the low is expected to be near 10 degrees and the wind chill could dip below zero. Friday's high will be lucky to reach the mid 20s under sunny skies. The cold weather grip should ease slightly on Saturday but the precipitation outlook becomes muddled as the weekend progresses as a cold front is expected to stall just south of the city late Sunday.
