Chuck's prediction is correct so far! Staten Island's squirmy anti-mayor rodent predicted six more weeks of winter and it does look like he will be accurate at least for the next week. A winter storm warning is still in place until early this evening, when the snow will come to a quick end. Several places around the city have already reported six inches or more snow today. The sky should clear overnight and we'll have a low around 20 degrees tomorrow morning. The clear skies should stick around for most of Tuesday but our second storm of the week arrives late tomorrow night.

The jet stream is pretty much blowing from west to east this week and that will carry an upper-level disturbance from Southern California right now to the East Coast late tomorrow night. Once that disturbance moves offshore we'll have us our second coastal storm of the week. This next storm looks like it will pass closer to shore, putting the city really close to the rain-snow line. The National Weather Service has us in the ugly zone of rain, freezing rain, and snow, while the Weather Channel thinks the precipitation will remain all rain. Places away from the coast could get 6-8 inches of snow.

Once that storm moves away we should have a couple of sunny but cool days in store. Thursday's high is expected to be about 30 degrees with Friday just a little bit warmer. The forecast gets a bit vague after that, as nobody yet has a good handle on the next storm. Let's go for cloudy and cool with a chance of snow next weekend, especially Sunday, and not be surprised if that forecast changes as the week progresses.
