A Metro-North employee was arrested this morning after he allegedly performed a lewd, awful act on a female rider on a New Haven-bound train from Grand Central.
Manny Ramos, 34, was suspended after his arrest. According to MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan, the incident occurred on the 7:35 a.m. train. A woman notified the train crew about the assault at about 9:09 a.m. and the train was held for 54 minutes in Fairfield, Connecticut, during the investigation, which included the MTA police and Fairfield police. Ramos was found on a side street. The Hartford Courant reports, "Witnesses who were in the train car at the time of the incident confirmed that Ramos was the perpetrator, [Fairfield Police Chief Gary] McNamara said."
While details of the incident have not been publicly released, sources say the victim had been sleeping when she awoke to Ramos masturbating and then ejaculating on her clothes and backpack.
Ramos, a Brooklyn resident, was hired by the MTA as a coach cleaner in October 2011 and had been in the train engineer training program. He is currently suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
