[UPDATE BELOW] Three people were hospitalized this afternoon after a vehicle reportedly collided with a pedestrian on the Upper East Side.
The FDNY tells us the incident happened at around 1:25 p.m. today at 3rd Avenue and East 86th Street; three people were transported to Lenox Hill Hospital in non life-threatening condition. Though initial reports suggest a pedestrian was struck by a cab driver, that has not been confirmed.
We will update when more information becomes available.
Update 5:21 p.m.: A tipster tells us he witnessed a cab driver jump a curb and strike a group of pedestrians standing on the sidewalk.
The cab was stopped at the light headed west on 86th. I heard scraping and the cab took a hard left, cut across the east bound lane, and jumped up onto the curb where a group of people were standing. We all ran like hell. A few people were hit. Most people stood up. A man holding a t mobile bag landed near me, I asked him if he was ok. He said he was and disappeared. The car came to a stop next to the fire hydrant on the right hand side of the picture.
I called 911, one man was laying next to the passenger side door of the cab, he was not pinned as far as I could tell. He wasn't moving. A firetruck that was on 86th stopped and and firemen came to his aid. A crowd formed around him.
But the people were on the sidewalk at the intersection.
