If your Friday isn't progressing exactly as planned, remember that at least authorities didn't have to extract you from the pipe of a New Jersey water treatment plant.
A spokesman for United Water told CBS Local that 26-year-old Asef Mohamed worked really, really hard to break into the plant that treats and pumps water for the township of Manalapan, apparently navigating a six-foot tall fence wrapped in barbed wire, only to tumble 10 or 12 feet down the pipe.
Workers heard muffled cries for help emanating from within the pipe—which measures no more than around 24-inches wide— around 7 a.m., with authorities successfully extricating the rogue just before 11 a.m. He was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center with unknown injuries.
In addition to suffering the indignity of getting wedged in a pipe, Mohamed is also being charged with fourth degree trespassing, and possibly additional charges pending the investigation. The township's mayor, Jordan Maskowitz, also noted that Mohamed is “familiar to the police.” If he's not already acquainted with Wannabe Inmate Matthew Matagrano, perhaps he should be.
Manalapan residents will be happy to know that the pipe was not in use, and that no water was compromised by Mohamed's short, strange trip.
