Now that 1 World Trade Center has asserted its dominance over those puny, non-New York skyscrapers, the Port Authority has released renderings for WTC's next centerpiece: an acre-long elevated park overlooking the National 9/11 Memorial.

Dubbed "Liberty Park," the Times reports that the proposed park will sit about 25 feet above Liberty Street, connecting Battery Park City and FiDi and presenting visitors with a view of both the memorial and the new St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.

And though the Port Authority's been pretty hush-hush on the plan thus far, last month the TriBeCa Citizen got a first look at the project's proposed renderings, which show designs for the small domed Santiago Calatrava-designed St. Nicholas church—attached to a long green strip of park. Now, the Port Authority has confirmed the park will be built, designed by landscape architect Joseph E. Brown, and plans include a 20 foot-high vertical garden wall composed of plants like periwinkle, Japanese spurge and Baltic ivy, 40 trees and shrubs and a pedestrian bridge and paths leading to Greenwich Street.

The park, which will cost an estimated $50 million to construct, is still in its beginning stages, but officials say it'll start coming into physical fruition sometime early next year.
