Of the victims, three are listed in critical condition, one is listed in serious condition, and no status was available for the final victim. They were transported to Mount Sinai and Cornell hospitals for treatment, though no information was immediately available on the precise location of each victim.
The FDNY could not immediately confirm the circumstances surrounding the incident, though PIX11 reports that the crash was the result of a box truck driver t-boning a yellow cab.
According to the station, the truck was forced onto the sidewalk, striking and killing a 65-year-old woman, though fire officials have not confirmed any deaths.
We'll update as information becomes available.
Update, 3:32 p.m.: Police have confirmed that one victim has died as a result of the wreck. There is no additional information on the status of the other four victims.
Update: 5:18 p.m.: The victim has been identified as 65-year-old Olga Rivera, who was killed by the box truck after a yellow cab, traveling westbound on East 102nd Street, struck the truck and caused it to jump the curb.
