Their forecast of a snowstorm later this week gone bad, AccuWeather now threatens New York with "Arctic Cold" accompanied by snow tomorrow night. Well, not really Arctic cold, but the coolest weather of the season so far, and not really snow but maybe a few snowflakes mixed with rain.
In the real world, a strong cold front will pass through the region late tonight, setting up a cold, raw, and blustery day tomorrow. This afternoon's high will reach the lower 50s, but tomorrow the mercury will struggle to reach the lower 40s. As the front approaches there will be a good chance of rain, possibly mixed with a few snowflakes in the city proper. There may be more snow than rain for a while in cooler locations north of the city. Whatever precipitation falls should be light.
Bring your plants indoors as a freeze warning is in effect for Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Below freezing temperatures haven't happened in Central Park since March 22nd. As the massive high pressure system behind tonight's front moves eastward we will see a gradual warming this week. Wednesday's high is expected to be in the mid 40s but our temperatures could return to near 60 degrees by Sunday.
