To herald the near-completion of the third and final phase of Madison Square Garden's $1 billion renovation, the arena has released a handful of sneak-peek photos of the redesign's most mysterious aspect: two "first of their kind" sky bridges that hang from the Garden's ceiling. The two bridges can seat 430 fans high above the arena for select events, including Phish's four night run at the end of December.
The renovation will be complete this month, with the new Garden officially reopening on October 25th. Both so-called "Chase Bridges" weigh in at 662 tons and measure 233 feet long and 22 feet wide, providing a spacious walkway way up there in the clouds, where nosebleeds are a badge of courage. From the press release:
First-class food and beverage options are steps away from the seats, including MSG Signature Collection offerings from top New York chefs and restaurateurs. The Chase Bridges include colors, design elements and curving forms that compliment and seamlessly integrate with the distinctive interior architecture of The Garden’s bowl.
The view from up there must be breathtaking—and they'll be simulcasting the events on video screens in case you want to follow along with the action from your lofty perch [BYO Oxygen Tank].
