The New York Film Festival is about bringing the best of world cinema to the Big Apple for 17 days—but there are many other programs, like the Convergence section, which explores storytelling on different platforms. And one of the projects that is being highlighted is the world of the so-popular-that- people-pose-as-cops-to-cut-lines video game Grand Theft Auto V.
Tomorrow—Sunday, September 29—there's a panel with the Rockstar Games creative team to discuss its "highly detailed and satirical re-imagining of modern day Southern California, from the bustling metropolis of Los Santos to the surrounding countryside, rivers, mountains, lakes and beaches of Blaine County."
Then on Monday night, September 30, there's a music concert, Live From Los Santos: The Music of Grand Theft Auto V, featuring the game's soundtrack composers Tangerine Dream, Woody Jackson, and Alchemist & Oh No. The artists will play the score with 20 other musicians at Church of St. Paul the Apostle in Midtown Manhattan, with art and other game visuals. Tickets for the 9 p.m. concert are $40 (for another $85, you can go to an afterparty at Le Poisson Rouge)—but you can win a pair of tickets by entering a contest below!
