This week's revelation that Anthony Carlos Weiner Danger's sexting rampage continued looooong after he resigned in disgrace has badly damaged his mayoral campaign, according to a new joint poll from The Wall Street Journal-NBC 4 New York-Marist. 25% of registered Democrats support City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and 16% support Mr. Weiner, a 14 percentage point swing in Quinn's favor compared with a poll taken several weeks ago by the same people.

The survey was conducted yesterday, 24 hours after gossip website The Dirty gave us Carlos Danger, Sydney Leathers, and so much more. 1,199 NYC adults were surveyed, including a subsection of 551 registered Democrats. Weiner's unfavorability rating surged to 55% in the poll, up from 36% in June. However, it's important to note that none of the New Yorkers surveyed had yet seen Weiner's johnson dressed up in a sombrero and tuxedo.

"These new revelations have cost Anthony Weiner the lead in the Democratic field," Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion, told the Wall Street Journal. "His negatives are at an all-time high. There's been a significant erosion in people's willingness to say he deserves another chance. They are more reluctant to grant that."

And despite speculation from one political analyst, it appears, so far, that the latest Weiner inanity has not hurt would-be Comptroller Eliot Spitzer, who leads in the poll 49% to 32% over Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer. "These are two campaigns that are really headed in very different directions," said Miringoff. "Spitzer is doing well and Weiner is floundering."

The poll was also encouraging for Public Advocate and mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio, who polled at 17% with likely voters, him just above Weiner, who was at 16%. Former former city comptroller Bill Thompson polled at 15%. Current comptroller John Liu was last seen holding a press conference somewhere in Minus World.

The primary is September 10th. Today Weiner admitted to reporters that "it's six to ten (women) I suppose" in total, and "no more than three" after he resigned. As we said earlier, we'll hopefully have enough dick shots to publish one each day until the election, like a Christmas advent calendar.
