Last night the National Weather Service posted the graphic above on their Facebook page and it pretty much explains our weather through tonight. Tropical Storm Andrea is over South Carolina this morning and is expected to move up the East Coast today. As it does the storm will lose a lot of its punch, don't expect high winds or much of a storm surge, but it will bring tremendous amounts of tropical moisture this way. That moisture will have to ride up over the red warm front on the map and, later today, will get pushed further upward by the stationary front that is slowly making it's way across the state.

The combination of moisture and uplift is likely to produce several inches of rain today. More than an inch fell overnight and we could see another 2-4 inches before the rain winds down tomorrow. It is no surprise that a flash flood watch is in effect from now until Saturday afternoon. the heaviest rainfall is expected to fall from late this afternoon until sometime after midnight.

While we are getting tropical rainfall today, tropical temperatures won't make it this far north. For today the temperature is going to hold steady in the mid 60s. Tomorrow will warm to the upper 70s in the wake of the storm and the skies may start to clear late in the afternoon. Sunday is looking warmer still with highs in the lower 80s under a mix of sun and clouds.
