Sunday morning's massive demolition isn't the only thing to see on Governors Island this weekend: annual art festival FIGMENT comes to town this Saturday and Sunday, bringing a whole bunch of engaging, free interactive art and installations to the city.

FIGMENT's got a full list of participating artists on its website. Last year's festivities boasted a submerged Statue of Liberty head, a treehouse, an oversized cowfish and a colorful mini-golf arcade; this year, the artist-designed mini-golf course and treehouse makes their return, joined by a wandering carnival of sculptures, a mural-making paint-and-dance shack and ethereal cocoon-clad performers. The minigolf theme this year is "State of the Art," and courses, which include a tar beach and a giant motherboard, will play on old and new notions of "state of the art" technology.

FIGMENT will also unveil this year's City of Dreams Pavilion, Jason Klimoski and Leslie Chang's billowy installation Head in the Clouds. And fans of front-facing iPhone cameras can take part in the festival's Selfie Photo Project; participants look at themselves at a mirror table, write down what they see, and draw portraits of other participants using only those descriptions; the portraits will later be posted online and on Instagram. Festivities kick off with an opening ceremony at 11 a.m. tomorrow, and run until 6 p.m. on Sunday evening; you can get to the Island by taking a free ferry from the Battery Maritime Building in Lower Manhattan or from Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 6 in Brooklyn, or via the East River Ferry for a $4 fare.
