Time for your inner child to crawl into your boss's office and tell her you have food poisoning: a giant freaking life size X-Wing Starfighter made entirely of LEGOs is currently parked in Times Square, and you can go inside it. Yeah, we're done for the day, too.
According to, well, TV Guide, the thing is made out of 5,335,200 LEGOs assembled by a team of 32 builders over the course of four months in Kladno, Czech Republic. (Frustratingly, the whole project had to be restarted halfway through after one of the builder's intoxicated fathers accidentally stepped on it and threw it against the wall.) It is an exact replica of the LEGO Star Wars set No. 9493, just 42 times bigger. And Gizmodo reports that it's the largest LEGO sculpture ever made, and has engines that light up and ROAR. Here's video:
The X-Wing will be in Times Square through Saturday. The very effective publicity stunt was launched to promote the premiere of the new Cartoon Network special LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles. Check out a Vine of it coming into Times Square:
The X-Wing will head to LEGOland in California after this stint. Fun fact: "The model was heavily engineered to withstand all the transportation, setup/break down and to ensure it was safe for Times Square given the subway system below and California’s seismic requirements for the LEGOLAND California Resort installation."

Yes, Stevie Wonder is playing MSG. No, you can't afford tickets. See these shows instead.
LCD Soundsystem also uses synthesizers. Ok, maybe not the same thing. But it's still a great month for music in NYC.
