An FDNY company had to retrieve an NYPD officer who was trapped in a tree after he attempted to rescue a cat this afternoon. According to a spokesman for the fire department, the officer was stuck in a tree about 30 feet above the ground near 230th Street at 67th Avenue in Queens. Around 2:40 p.m., Ladder 160 responded with a tower ladder bucket and retrieved the officer and the cat. "All people and animals are safe after this incident," FDNY spokesman Frank Dwyer said.
An NYPD spokeswoman said she would look into the matter.
We'll update if we learn more.
