Max Fish has been pretty tight-lipped about its plans to scoot across the river to Williamsburg, but a notice sent to us today indicates that action has cleared the petitioning stages and headed straight into filing an application for a liquor license.

It appears the legendary art bar has gotten its wish to move into the space at 130-132 Metropolitan Avenue (pictured above in its current state), though nothing has been posted with the Department of Buildings just yet. A representative with Community Board 1 said the bar is requesting a new liquor license (as opposed to a transfer), so we're curious whether the borough's apparent new-found love of early closing times will stymie our ability to get weird in the new location until 4 a.m. like we want to.

According to StreetEasy, the 3,000 foot space, which formerly housed "Ideal Fire Control Inc," was taken off the market yesterday. It was listed at $14,000 per month, which is apparently a better deal than the "skyrocketing rent" the Fish was facing in its LES digs. If all goes as planned, the bar will also be sharing a block with Nitehawk Cinema, located at 136 Metropolitan Avenue, so won't that be fun.

According to the notice, a hearing to discuss the bar's liquor license will be held on May 9 at the Swinging 60s Senior Center at 211 Ainslie Street at 6:30 p.m. Calls to owner Ulli Rimkus have not been returned.
