The NYPD released surveillance video of a man who allegedly tried to steal a woman's cellphone and money—and then sexually assaulted her.
The incident occurred on April 6th, at 2 a.m., on East 27th Street near Third Avenue. According to the Post, the 28-year-old victim had "returned home with her boyfriend after a night out on the town and took her dog for a stroll, sources said." According to police, when she was outside, a man approached her, showed a black handgun and demanded her money and cellphone. When she told him that she didn't have anything on her, the man then allegedly sexually abused her.
The suspect is described as a black male, 6', heavy-set with a bald head. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and bubble vest.
Anyone with information in regards is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
