This week's weather forecast is one of those for which you don't need to look at any weather maps or read any forecast discussions to know what's going on. A series of warm days, each with at least a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms, followed by cooler weather and a continued chance of showers means only one thing: McDLT weather. In other words, a front is going to stall just north of the city, keeping the hot side hot and cold side cold. A series of short waves will ripple along that boundary, raising the potential for showers every time they pass.

A cold front almost imperceptibly dipped its toes across the region this morning and quickly moved back north. That will allow us to warm up to the upper 60s this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Tonight will see a chance of showers, and maybe even a thunderstorm, as the first shortwave passes overhead. Warmer weather arrives after the chance of showers fades tomorrow morning. Look for Tuesday's high to reach the upper 70s. Yes, upper 70s, as in very close to 80 degrees.

Cooler air will arrive later when the front finally moves southward later in the week. Right now it is not clear if that will be on Wednesday or Thursday. The consensus seems to be that Wednesday will still be warm, with a high in the mid 70s. Thursday is more likely to be cooler, reaching only the mid 60s. Both days will have a chance of showers. As the front leaves the forecast becomes more reliable, and that says Friday will be cooler still as a storm moves out of the Ohio Valley toward the East Coast. Look for Friday's high to be in the mid 50s with a good chance of rain.
