When a Daily News reporter boarded "the new NYC bus tour ripped from the Post's headlines," he expected a lot more boobs, blood, and bias for his $49. "All I got was a standard tour of familiar landmarks with references to a few past Post headlines thrown in," Barry Paddock writes, before assailing the tour guide's de-arousing emphasis on actual aesthetics. "Jose, who had been an archaeology major in college, seemed able to name the architect behind every building in New York. (Pass the NoDoz)." Scribe Scammed On NY Post Tour: Who Cares About Beauxxxxring-Art Buildings?*
NPR's assessment of the sparsely-attended, 2.5-hour tour was kinder:
At Rockefeller Center, home to NBC, Lynch [the tour guide] goes out of his way to taunt Matt Lauer, a favorite target of the Post. Alec Baldwin takes some hits, too— "He and the Post, they're always tangling with each other," Lynch says. "Alec the Bloviator!"
Man, celebrities getting angry at people taking photographs of them? Only in New York! We still recommend Highlights' 4.5-hour, conversion van tour of the city, complete with a drive-by of the bedbug-riddled heroin den where some of the best What's Wrong columns were conceived, and some scandalous dirt on Goofus & Gallant (THEY'RE THE SAME PERSON).
*Forgive us, we Gehry-ntee that won't happen again.
