With Snowtorious B.I.G. headed our way, let's look back at the blizzards of early 1978, which paralyzed many eastern states 35 years ago—one hitting the Ohio area at the end of January, and one hitting New York and New England states in early February. We'll have more on that storms dramatic impact in the coming days, but for now let's look at how the snowfall, high tides, and hurricane winds were covered in the news around the country.

This is a great compilation of Boston broadcasts, soundtracked by The Bangles.

From a documentary on the storm—"it was a non-stop keg party."

From Michigan—this one's just all Ted Nugent (that's so Detroit).

From Cleveland—"This is the worst blizzard I've ever seen."

And here's a snow car in Bensonhurst:

As of right now we're expected to get eight inches to get 10" to 14" this weekend, which is nothing compared to the Blizzard of 1978... or the Blizzard of 1888, or the Blizzard of 1899, or the Blizzard of 1947.
