Last night, NJ Governor Chris Christie appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman. Given that Letterman has made countless jokes at Christie's expense, the potential 2016 presidential candidate came armed—literally. While Letterman started to talk, Christie pulled out a doughnut to snack on, somewhat stunning Letterman. Christie said, "I didn't know this was going to be this long."
Christie also read his favorite Letterman jokes about himself: "Celebrity birthday today — Chris Christie turned 50. He blew out the candles on his cake, and he wished for another cake" and "A billion dollars will be spent on potato chips for Super Bowl Sunday, and that’s just at Governor Christie’s house."
Letterman asked Christie about his weight and whether his family tells him to diet. The governor said, "Every day. Perhaps you might want to get smaller pants one day and then the need is to lose some weight," but he emphasized his cholesterol and blood sugar were normal, insisting he's in "startlingly good health....I’m basically the healthiest fat guy you’ve ever seen in your life."
