A woman was just rescued from the Gowanus Canal. According to an FDNY spokesman, the woman became submerged in the Superfund site at around 5:48 this evening near Union Street and Bond Street. "We're still on scene, so there's no additional information yet," the spokesman said, before confirming that she has in fact been fished out.
We'll update with more information as we get it.
[UPDATE // 7:13 PM] An FDNY spokesman said the woman was transported to New York Methodist Hospital, but her condition was unknown. The NYPD's press office had no information on the incident.
