At the Fairway in Red Hook, workers have been throwing out a lot of expired food that was never sold because of Hurricane Sandy. What a waste—everyone knows that expiration dates don't actually go into effect until the food is in your mouth, right? That's what we've learned from this informative video by a representative of the "Dumpster Liberation Front." He found boxes of delicious chocolate-covered cherries in the garbage on the Upper East Side, and he's not about to let some stupid "expiration date" stop people from enjoying them:

"This is what people throw out in America, it's kind of crazy," the freegan explains. "It's expired, but the real expiration date is when it's in your mouth.... I guess I'll give this away." What selflessness! Don't worry, Hurricane Sandy victims, help is on the way. Or did it already arrive?
