Fancy grilled cheese shops are popping up all over the place these days but hey, there's always room for one more gooey melty cheesy option in our mouths. So we were excited to learn that Melt Shop, which opened its first Midtown location last year, has expanded with a new restaurant on 26th Street in Chelsea.

There are some new additions to their already hefty menu of gooey delights, including the Thanksgiving Dinner (brie, smoked turkey, caramelized onions, cranberry jam) for $8.95 and the Ham and Cheese (imported gruyere, all natural smoked ham, homemade pickled red onions, grain mustard on rye) for $8.75, both of which are only available at the new location. Also unique to the new shop: sweet potato tots, which will pair nicely with a pint of Montauk Brewing Company beer, which you can't find on tap anywhere else in Manhattan. Whimsical hand-spun shakes like Birthday Cake and PB&J round out the dairy-fest plus the required tomato soup or an arugula salad if you need some greenery.

Like its sister in midtown, the Chelsea outpost also serves up a nice selection of breakfast sandwiches, from the traditional bacon, egg and cheese to The Hungry Goat, a wild mushroom and goat cheese frittata with caramelized onions served on brioche. The restaurant will open daily from 7:30 a.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. weekends until a very respectable 10:30 p.m. every night. There are a few electric yellow tables in the courtyard outside where you can nosh on your sandwiches even when the weather gets chilly, courtesy of space heaters. Inside the cozy dining area are a few of the same cheery tables and a long bar that overlooks the prep area. You can also get your sandwich to go in their "signature to-go boxes" that promise "maximum crispiness" when you reach your destination.
