Native Brooklynite Barbra Streisand came back home last night for the first of her two sold out shows at Barclays Center. The 70-year-old welcomed the crowd saying: “Hello Brooklyn. Who said you can’t go home again?” She added, “I left Brooklyn to pursue my dreams, but Brooklyn never left me. I’m so glad I was born and raised here." Last night was actually her first show in the borough. And plenty of famous names were there to celebrate with her—here's Sting and Trudie Styler, Woody Allen and Soon Yi, and Regis and Joy (even Bloomberg was there):
Streisand has been knocking Mitt Romney on her tour, and last night referred to him as a "good actor... a chameleon." At her show in Philly earlier this week she told the audience, "I love Big Bird and I hope no one tells Romney how to get to Sesame Street... or to Pennsylvania Avenue."
On the Back To Brooklyn Facebook page, one fan wrote: "Streisand didn't just come to Brooklyn, she conquered Brooklyn and made it her own. Incredible concert and for those going Saturday Night, you are in for a treat. She still has it big time, two thumbs up and way up. What a night it was." Here's some more video from last night's show:
