The 16-year-old pizza delivery boy who is accused of raping a 35-year-old woman in her West 61st Street apartment won't be in court until Thursday, but his mother is speaking out now. Cesar Lucas' mother told the Post, "I am not dismissing the woman’s claims, but a lot of what she is saying doesn’t make much sense."

Lucas had a delivery in the building and, after making it, he allegedly tried various doors and found the victim's door unlocked. (The victim's relatives live across the hall and they apparently keep them unlocked.) Lucas is accused of entering her apartment, climbing on top of her, and covering her mouth during the assault. The victim, whose 7-year-old daughter was in the bed next to her, was able to push him off.

Lucas' mother defended her son, “My son is 16 years old. He isn’t very strong. How is it possible that her daughter didn’t wake up? ... His co-workers told me he accidentally rang her bell, and when she opened, he said, ‘I’m sorry,’ and she was drunk." However, the Post says that the police "rejected" that idea.

According to court papers, Lucas confessed to the crime, claiming he was "horny." But his mother said, "It is possible he confessed out of fear because they forced him to," and says that Lucas' girlfriend "is very upset. She has told me he has never hurt her. He has always respected her."
