[UPDATE BELOW] Police helicopters have been circling the Brooklyn Bridge for the past half hour as the Emergency Services Unit tries to talk a man down off of the bridge. According to the Office of Emergency Management, Brooklyn-bound traffic on the bridge has been halted for the time being, and NYPD police boats are preemptively cruising the waters below.
As of 2:20 p.m., the man was still up on the bridge, and the pedestrian walkway has been closed. We'll update as more information becomes available.
Update 2:44 p.m.: The man has been coaxed down of the bridge, and traffic is now flowing again.
