A passenger in a livery cab is in critical condition after being shot in the head when another man tried to rob the cab early this morning in Brooklyn. Police say that around 2:30 a.m., an armed thief tried to hold up the livery cab driver, who was stopped at a traffic light on Utica Avenue and Avenue M. A struggle between the driver and thief ensued, and the gun went off, hitting a 23-year-old passenger in the head.

Another passenger in the cab, a woman, as well as the driver were unharmed during the incident. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital, and remains in critical condition. According to NY1, the NYPD now has a suspect in custody in the shooting; they add that the man is not cooperating with them and has not yet been charged.
